“We saw some zee-bras when we drove in.”
We said this to Andrew, the wildlife guide at NamibRand, where we spent part of our 2017 Christmas camping trip.
“Ah. Zee-bras,” he replied. “You have them in your country?”
“Nope!”
“Mmmmm,” he said with perfect, dry delivery. “I didn’t think so. So you wouldn’t know that it’s properly pronounced zeb-ra.”
When I was prepping the post for Khama Rhino Sanctuary I realized that I had waaaaay more photos of zebras than I could put in a post dedicated to other animals. We already did a Beasts of Botswana post on zebras, but I got so many shots on our trips to Khama (used to cars, and not under as much threat from predators, they’re much less skittish there). So, here’re a few more photos of the iconic zeb-ra.
